Welcome to Indian Creek Elementary School! I am honored to serve as the principal of such a diverse, vibrant, and caring school community. With 31 years of experience in both elementary and secondary education, I have dedicated my career to supporting student success, developing educators, and creating learning environments where all students can thrive.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in various educational leadership roles, which have strengthened my passion for academic excellence, continuous improvement, and meaningful partnerships with families and the community. I believe that every child deserves access to high-quality instruction, a safe and supportive learning environment, and opportunities to reach their fullest potential.

At Indian Creek Elementary, I am committed to our district's theme, "One District, One Direction: Moving Forward for Results." By working together as students, families, staff, and community partners, we can ensure that every child experiences success and growth.

What I enjoy most about Indian Creek is our rich diversity and the unique perspectives that each student and family brings to our school community. Together, we celebrate cultures, build connections, and create opportunities for all learners to excel.

When I am not at school, I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I am Dr. Shawna M. Tamakloe, and I am excited to welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year as the proud Assistant Principal of Indian Creek Elementary School! This year, we embrace our district theme, “One District, One Direction: Moving Forward Together for Results.” This theme reflects our collective commitment to ensuring that every student achieves academic success in a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

For the past 23 years, I have had the privilege of serving the Indian Creek family in a variety of roles, and I am honored to continue this journey alongside the students, families, and staff of the Clarkston community. My goal is to strengthen the partnerships that connect our school and community, creating opportunities for every child to thrive.
One of the greatest joys of being part of Indian Creek is the opportunity to:

  • Celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of our school community
  • Empower students to achieve their academic, social, and language goals

It is truly an honor to serve another year as the Assistant Principal at Indian Creek Elementary School. With 21 years of experience in education, I remain passionate about creating a positive school culture where students, families, teachers, and staff feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed. I am excited to continue partnering with our school community to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to serve in a variety of educational roles that have strengthened my commitment to student achievement, teacher development, and family engagement. These experiences have shaped my belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and collaboration are the foundation of a successful school.

One of the things I value most about Indian Creek is our rich diversity and the incredible strength of our school community.
